Prière du matin

O ma belle et divine dame,
Dont les pleurs font pleurer mon âme,
Qui cherchez-Vous en soupirant?
- Je cherche mon petit enfant.

  - Il est sur la croix, pauvre mère!
Et son sang coule sur la terre
Comme un grain qui sera mûri
Le beau jour de Pâques-Fleuri^*.

Alors du fruit rouge qu'il donne
Nous Vous ferons une couronne.
Car des palmes en sortiront,
Et des Étoiles quoi luiront.

Qu'est-ce que Marie? - Une Mère,
Mais son fils n'est plus sur la terre.
- Où donc est-il? - Il est au ciel,
Et revient pour nous sur l'autel.

Dieu son père est aussi mon père;
La vierge Marie est ma mère;
Monsiur saint Pierre^* est mon parrain
et saint Jacques^* mon grand-cousin:
Voilà ceux que j'aime le miux.
Mes parants qui sont dans les ciuex.

Morning-prayer

O my beautiful and divine lady,
Who's tears make my soul cry,
Who are you looking for with sighs?
- I search for my little child.

- He is on the cross, poor mother!
And his blood is dripping on the ground
Like a grain that will be ripe
On the beautiful Easter Sunday^*.

And of the red fruits that he gives
We will make you a crown.
For the palms that are leaping out,
And the Stars that surrounds him.

Who then is Mary? - A Mother;
But her son is not on the earth any more.
Where then is he? - He is in heaven,
And returns to us on the altar.

God his father is also my father;  
The Virgin Mary is my mother;
Mister saint Peter^* is my relative,
and saint James^* my grand-cousin:
So these I love the most.
My parents who are in the heavens.
